SUMMER CAMP
A primary goal at Black Spectrum Theatre Company is to provide adults, children and youth with Theatre skills and artistic experience through training in theatre and film.

Black Spectrum's Youth Theatre Company educates teenagers in the theatre arts and brings new visions and opportunities to underserved young audiences throughout Queens. The Company offers classes and workshops in movement, speech, dialects, interpretation, character-building, lighting, sound, and set-building to its 25 student members. Classes are held on weekends and during the after-school hours.

During its 17-year history, the Youth Theatre Company has presented dozens of works by contemporary African-American playwrights, addressing critical issues including drugs, teen pregnancy, and handgun violence. The Youth Theatre Company has won AUDELCO awards for Best Musical Production of the Year, Best Lead Actor, Best Choreographer and Best Musical.
Black Spectrum Theatre Company's Summer Theatre Camp is now in its Tenth year. We started the Camp with a small staff and less than 20 children in 1995. In four short years the camp has grown to provide educational opportunities and theatre experience for more than 100 youngsters ages 8- 12.

The camp offers professional theatre instruction, a rich selection of culturally oriented field trips, and appealing, nutritious, catered meals.
